Our Services |
| Hospice of Anchorage works with the patient and family along with the patient’s physician and the hospice interdisciplinary team - volunteers, nurses, social service coordinator, bereavement coordinator, and volunteer chaplain – to provide assistance to meet the transition from life through death and to cope with loss and grief. This may be a one time visit, periodic contact, or may grow into an ongoing relationship lasting weeks or months. |
HOSPICE CARE |
Hospice care offers people with life-limiting illness the opportunity to live fully with control over pain and other symptoms through the end-of-life. Hospice care also supports families in coping with the effects and challenges of illness.
Hospice support may include:

Nursing consultations for assessment and recommendations regarding pain and symptom control

patient and family education about disease progression
-
assistance with insurance, financial and legal matters, such as advance directives, living wills,
durable power of attorney

trained volunteer assistance and support; emotional and spiritual support; bereavement and grief support

public and professional education on end-of-life and palliative care issues.

GRIEF SUPPORT
|
Grief support provides resources and services to anyone that has experienced the death of a loved one, even if they did not receive end-of-life care from Hospice of Anchorage.
Grief support may include:

Individual or family support

educational seminars
-
literature, books and videos on loan
-
special materials for children
-
-
annual remembrance service
-
mailings and phone calls

GRIEF SUPPORT GROUPS |
The Adult Grief Group meets twice monthly. The Bereavement Coordinator or trained bereavement outreach volunteers also offer one-to-one support.
The Forget-Me-Not Grief Program - for children, teens and the adults who love them – meets on regularly scheduled Thursday evenings. |
