Lifeways Services
(Our Hospice Clients)

What Are Lifeways Services?

As a Lifeways client, you keep your own medical team, and continuing disease-focused treatment does not affect your eligibility. We meet you where you are. Our team of clinicians, bereavement coordinators, and volunteers will work together to develop a plan of care tailored to your individual’s needs and wishes. This may be a one-time visit, periodic contact, or may grow into an ongoing relationship lasting weeks or months. Lifeways Services are designed to help you regain some control at a time when life can seem out of control and allow you and your family to focus on the things that matter most to you.

Lifeways Services May Include

Case Management

Hospice of Anchorage aids community members in gaining access to and utilizing needed medical, social, educational, and other programs and services. We work to meet the individual’s changing needs that will allow them to remain in their home and community of choice for as long as possible. Case management services may be short term or long term.

Chore Services

Services that assist an individual in keeping a safe and clean environment to live independantly in the home (Personal Care Assistant support).

Respite Services

Services that provide support and relief to families and other caregivers by providing substitute care for clients with declining physical and cognitive functions. Respite care services allow intermittent or temporary relief or rest to an unpaid primary care giver (who is most often a family member).

Supplemental Services

Personal emergency response alarm systems or other assistive devices.

Volunteer Support

Our team of volunteer Compassionate Companions are dedicated volunteers trained to visit our clients in their homes or other living accomodations. They are compassionate individuals who provide comfort and support to clients facing a life-limiting illness and ensure that the client and families needs are met in a variety of ways.

End-of-Life Education

A variety of professional end-of-life subject matter experts are available to help give Alaskans and their families important end-of-life education and resources.
